How to cut double-sided laminated sheet with a laser cutting machine

Fiber laser cutting machine is currently one of the main equipment for metal cutting and processing, and laminated plate is a common type of sheet metal in current processing. Laminated panels are generally divided into single-sided and double-sided laminations. When cutting a single-sided lamination panel from the side with film, there is basically no impact, and the cutting of a double-sided lamination panel is very particular. This article mainly explains how laser cutting machines can cut double-sided laminated sheets.

The difficulty in cutting laminated boards is because laser cutting can only be carried out from the top down direction of the board. The protective film on the board has little effect during cutting, while the film below the board may hinder the fall of cutting debris during cutting. These debris can directly affect the cutting effect of the board and may cause the board to not cut through. If the protective film is manually removed, the board is prone to scratches during transportation, which affects its subsequent use.

The correct method for laser cutting double-sided laminated sheets:

1. Draw an auxiliary cutting diagram that matches the actual cutting diagram. The specific method is to mirror the actual cutting diagram and directly obtain the auxiliary cutting diagram.

2. Calculate the position and maximum offset of the film to be removed. In theory, using auxiliary cutting diagrams and laser etching on top of the sheet metal can remove the protective film at the cutting position, and then directly cut the sheet metal by flipping it over. However, in the actual cutting process, due to the influence of laser positioning error and sheet shape error, the cutting positions on the front and back sides of the sheet cannot overlap. Therefore, during frontal etching, it is necessary to calculate the accurate offset and tear off the protective film at the position where it can be offset.

3. Draw cutting drawings and auxiliary cutting drawings. Just draw the cutting drawing directly according to the shape of the workpiece. To assist in cutting the drawing, first mirror the actual cutting drawing and then offset it with the set error value.

4. Perform laser cutting diagram layout. Here, it is necessary to first layout the auxiliary cutting drawings. Secondly, mirror the layout of the auxiliary cutting diagram, remove the etching lines, and only retain the actual cutting diagram.

5. Perform laser cutting. Firstly, prepare the plate for etching, and then remove the protective film at the laser incision position. After tearing off the protective film, flip the steel plate over and cut the workpiece.
