Today, I will bring you the maintenance of protective lenses in laser cutting machines and solutions to common problems. Protective lenses, as the name suggests, are protective to prevent dust and slag splashes from damaging the internal lenses of the laser head. They are essential small components for laser cutting machines

The prices of protective lenses on the market vary greatly from tens of yuan to hundreds of yuan, and the quality varies greatly. Improper selection of lenses can lead to frequent damage to protective lenses, unstable product quality, and losses to enterprises. Therefore, we need to pay special attention to the fact that laser head protective lenses are vulnerable parts, but in order to improve utilization and reduce production costs, regular cleaning of protective lenses can be carried out, To achieve the purpose of reuse, the following are three cleaning steps.

Cleaning steps

1: The protective lenses for large image lasers are made of imported quartz material, which has excellent wear resistance and high temperature resistance, and is not easy to leave scratches. However, when cleaning the lenses, it is also important to pay attention not to directly handle the protective lenses by hand. You can wear gloves and special sets for operation. For smaller lenses, using optical tweezers or vacuum tweezers will be more convenient.

Generally, it is necessary to check the condition of the protective lenses of the laser cutting machine before and after use and cleaning. Because most contaminants and surface defects are relatively small in size, magnifying devices are often used when inspecting lenses. In addition to amplification equipment, sometimes we also need to irradiate the optical surface with a relatively bright light to enhance the specular reflection intensity of surface contaminants and defects, which can make it easier to detect contaminants and defects.

When cleaning laser cutting machine protective lenses, often use wiping paper and optical grade solvents to prevent damage by other contaminants. The wiping paper must be moistened with a suitable solvent, and should not be used dry. The available wiping paper is pure cotton wiping paper or applicators such as cotton balls, lens paper, and cotton swabs.

Doing a good job in daily maintenance and cleaning of laser head protective lenses can greatly reduce their wear and tear, but more often it is due to other adverse factors that accelerate the aging and damage of protective lenses. Let's talk about several common protective mirror problems and their solutions.

Protective lenses

Black and white spots appear

Black spots appear

Most of the black spots on the protective lens are caused by molten slag splashing and adhering to the lens, which reflects the importance of regular inspection and cleaning of the protective lens. If the lens cannot be found to have black spots adhering in time, over time, it will affect the transmittance of the protective lens, affect the focal length, make the excitation beam unable to focus properly on the plate surface, affect cutting, and even cause the protective lens to become thinner and penetrate, lose its protective effect, causing damage to the laser head.

Generally speaking, it is difficult to remove black spots from the protective lens because the black spots have adhered to the protective lens and invaded the protective lens. At this time, the protective lens is no longer usable, so it can only be replaced with a new protective lens. If you want to slow down the black spots on the protective mirror, the most important thing is to reduce slag splashing. This requires checking the focus, power, auxiliary air pressure, and other factors in combination with the processing quality of the workpiece to uniformly adjust them. Based on the cutting effect of the packaging material, determine where the problem is, and then make adjustments.

White spots appear

The reason for causing white spots is generally because the cooling water in the cold water tank is not pure, or the equipped air compressor needs to be cleaned. Therefore, the cooling water should be replaced in a timely manner, while cleaning the air compressor.

Protective mirror fogging

Choosing air compressed gas as an auxiliary gas can reduce costs. However, if you do not pay attention, the protective lens may experience condensation and fogging, because there may be some water vapor in the compressed air that has not been completely discharged. Equipped with an air compressor can not only reduce cutting costs, but also reduce the occurrence of fogging and improve the cutting quality of the workpiece.
