What if the laser cutting machine always hangs slag? The laser cutting machine always hangs slag, which will seriously affect the quality of the cutting workpiece. Many sheet metal processing enterprises will be troubled by such problems. Can cutting machine slagging be solved? How can we achieve the ideal cutting effect?

There are many reasons for slag hanging on the laser cutting machine. Generally, we can consider focus, speed, power, air pressure and other issues. What should we do about the laser cutting machine always hanging slag? Let's give you a detailed introduction through some examples.

How to deal with the slag hanging on the laser cutting machine

1. Focus position

The focus position is the distance between the laser focus and the workpiece surface, which directly affects the section roughness, the slope and width of the kerf, and the adhesion of the molten residue.. If the focus position is too advanced, the heat absorbed by the lower end of the workpiece to be cut will increase. When the cutting speed and auxiliary air pressure are fixed, the material to be cut and the melted material near the cutting seam will flow as liquid on the lower surface. After cooling, the melted material will adhere to the lower surface of the workpiece as a ball; If the position lags. The heat absorbed by the lower end face of the material to be cut is reduced, so that the material in the cutting seam cannot be completely melted, and some sharp and short residues will be stuck on the lower surface of the plate.

2. Speed

During laser cutting, the cutting speed is determined according to the material and thickness of the cutting plate. Different cutting speeds will have a great impact on the quality of laser cutting. Proper selection of cutting speed can not only improve the efficiency of laser cutting, but also obtain good cutting quality. The influence of different cutting speeds on cutting quality is discussed as follows:

(1) The influence of too fast laser cutting feed speed on cutting quality:

It may cause cutting failure and sparks.

Some areas can be cut off, but some areas cannot be cut off.

As a result, the whole cutting section is relatively thick, but there is no melting.

The cutting feed speed is too fast, which makes it impossible to cut the plate in time, the cutting section presents oblique lines, and the lower part produces melting stains.

(2) Influence of too slow laser cutting feed speed on cutting quality:

The cutting section is rough due to the over melting of the cutting plate.

The cutting seam will be widened accordingly, causing the whole area to melt at the small round corner or sharp corner, and the ideal cutting effect will not be achieved.

Cutting efficiency is low, affecting production capacity.

(3) Selection of appropriate cutting feed speed:

The feed speed can be judged from the cutting spark: generally, the cutting spark spreads from top to bottom. If the spark is inclined, the feed speed is too fast; If the sparks are not diffused and few and agglomerate together, it means that the feed speed is too slow. Adjust the cutting speed properly, and the cutting surface presents a relatively stable line, and there is no melting in the lower part.

3. Power

During laser cutting, the selection of laser power has an impact on the cutting quality. The cutting power should be determined according to the material and thickness of the cutting plate. If the power is too large or too small, a good cutting section cannot be obtained.

When laser cutting, the laser power is too small, which will make it impossible to cut.

When the laser power is set too high, the whole cutting surface will melt, and the cutting seam is too large to obtain good cutting quality.

When the laser power is not set enough, cutting molten stains will be generated, and tumor scars will be generated on the cutting section.

With proper laser power setting and proper cutting gas and pressure, good cutting quality can be obtained without molten stains.

4. Air pressure

In laser cutting, auxiliary air pressure can blow off the slag and cool the heat affected zone. Auxiliary gas includes oxygen, compressed air, nitrogen and inert gas. For some metal materials and non-metallic materials, inert gas or compressed air is generally used to prevent material burning. Such as cutting of aluminum alloy materials. Active gas (such as oxygen) is used for most metal materials, because oxygen can oxidize metal surface and improve cutting efficiency.

When the auxiliary air pressure is too high, eddy current appears on the material surface, which weakens the ability to remove molten materials, leading to wider slits and rough cutting surfaces; When the air pressure is too low, the melt cannot be completely blown away, and the lower surface of the material will stick with slag. Therefore, the auxiliary gas pressure shall be adjusted during cutting to obtain the best cutting quality.

Examples of solutions:

Stainless steel:

1. Pressure and flow of nitrogen (check whether the pressure and flow are normal)

2. The problem of cutting speed (too fast or too slow speed may cause slagging, especially too slow speed may also cause slagging)

3. Laser focus (the focus position of laser cutting carbon steel and stainless steel is different, the laser cutting nozzle is different, and the lens should be different)

Focus problem ---- Adjust the focus according to the plate thickness

1: The higher the focus is, the brighter its cutting surface is

2: Hard slag hanging on the lower surface: the focus is too high, the speed is too slow, and the air pressure is too low

3: The lower the focus is, the rougher its cutting surface is

4: Soft slag hanging on the lower surface: the focus is too low, the speed is too fast, the air pressure is too high, and the power is too high

5: Fail to cut through: the focus is wrong, the power is too low and the speed is too fast
