How to Prevent Dewing of High Power Laser

As the temperature rises slowly, the temperature difference may cause laser fogging. What I want to talk about today is the precautions against condensation of high-power lasers.

Condensation inside the laser is due to the fact that the water vapor in the air has reached the saturation state, but the drop in temperature causes dew precipitation in the saturated air. This will lead to corrosion and damage of the internal parts of the laser, seriously making the laser unable to work normally.

Dewing omen

The consequence of laser dewing is so serious, what omen will there be for laser internal dewing? Generally, small water droplets appear on the wall of the cold water pipe on the laser, and the condensation will not spread to the laser interior at this time, and it will take a while for the internal condensation to occur.

Preventive measures

Generally, the cooling water temperature of the laser is lower than the ambient temperature, which means condensation. Please refer to the following table for details:

The color of this figure is divided into four blocks, each of which corresponds to a different dewing temperature: range 1: the dew point temperature in green+blue areas is lower than 20 ℃, range 2: the dew point temperature in orange areas is between 20-25 ℃, and range 3: the dew point temperature in red areas is greater than 25 ℃.

When the environment is in the first range, the dew point is low, which is a safe range. We can set the cooling water temperature normally as required. When the environment is in range two, it is a dangerous range of condensation, which can occur if there is a little carelessness. It is recommended that if the cooling water temperature is close to the dew point temperature, the water temperature can be properly adjusted to avoid condensation. If the ambient temperature continues to rise, it needs to be handled according to the three conditions of scope: scope three is sure to be dewed, and you can install air conditioners or machine tool boxes to isolate and reduce the temperature if economic conditions permit, so as to effectively counter dewing. In addition, if the cooling capacity and flow capacity of the water cooler are redundant enough, you can increase the water temperature by about 2 ℃ as appropriate, but this method has limited effect, It is highly recommended to reduce the working environment temperature.
